SIOR Canada Central Chapter is proud to recognize Mason Sinkeldam as this year’s Young Professional of the Year. Operating in the Guelph market, Mason has distinguished himself through a disciplined approach to client service, a strong team foundation, and a commitment to long term growth.
For Mason, the recognition reflects more than individual performance. He credits the strength of his mentors and team, Ted Davis, Ryan Wilkinson, and Chris Valeriote, for playing a pivotal role in his development. Their guidance, trust, and investment in his growth have been instrumental in shaping his recent success.
In a market that continues to evolve, Mason believes honesty is essential in building lasting client relationships. Providing candid, well-reasoned advice grounded in current data, prevailing trends, and real-world experience remains central to his approach. Entering 2025, rather than relying solely on a predefined pipeline, Mason and his team leaned into work ethic, strong client relationships, and a trusted referral network to create new opportunities.
As an emerging leader in the industry, Mason believes credibility is built on what he describes as “availability, responsiveness, and the willingness to say, ‘I don’t know.’” Being accessible, executing efficiently, and confidently seeking answers when needed have become key differentiators early in his career. He views adaptability, particularly as technology and AI reshape commercial real estate, as a responsibility. Maintaining an open mind and thoughtfully integrating tools that improve efficiency and decision making helps ensure clients are consistently well served.
Looking ahead, Mason is energized by the continual opportunity to learn. Commercial real estate offers a unique window into how businesses operate across industries, keeping the work dynamic and rewarding. For young professionals entering the field, his advice is simple: “Short-term thinking often leads to a short career.” Adopting a long-term mindset, seeking strong mentorship, and approaching every opportunity with intention remain central to his philosophy.
